Punjab Launches Entrepreneurship Mindset Course to Transform Students into Job Creators

Chandigarh, October 9, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday launched the Entrepreneurship Mindset Course (EMC), aiming to make Punjab a state of job creators rather than job seekers. The course, a first of its kind in India at the higher education level, will empower students with practical business skills and entrepreneurial thinking.

Addressing the launch event, Kejriwal emphasized that the current education system, rooted in the British era, focuses on producing clerks rather than fostering innovators. He said the EMC would inspire students to step out of their comfort zones, develop ideas, and contribute to the socio-economic growth of Punjab and India.

The National Convener highlighted that the AI-driven, multilingual digital platform will guide students through all aspects of business, including communication, financial management, marketing, and operations. For the 2025–26 academic year, the course will be implemented in 20 universities, 320 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and 91 polytechnic colleges, covering 1.5 lakh students. By 2028–29, it is expected to reach 5 lakh students across the state. Initially mandatory for BBA, B.Com, B.Tech, and B.Voc programs, the EMC will later extend to all degree courses.

Kejriwal said the program would nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of Punjabis, equipping them to establish enterprises, create jobs, and compete globally. “With this course, students will not just study—they will become entrepreneurs,” he said, adding that it could help India rival global economies like China.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the initiative would provide real-world knowledge, develop personalities, and cultivate new ideas among youth. He praised the talent in Punjab, noting that 45% of engineers at Boeing hail from the state. Mann said the government would provide a launchpad for students’ ideas, encouraging them to dream big while staying grounded.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia called the course historic, saying it addresses the critical gap in the education system by equipping students to earn while learning. He added that with 1.5 crore graduates every year, the course would significantly reduce unemployment and create a generation of job providers, ensuring India’s transition from a developing nation to a leading global economy.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, along with senior AAP leaders, were present at the event.
