National Times Bureau :- Punjab’s Jail Minister, Laljit Singh Bhullar, visited the Central Jail on Tajpur Road to review the facilities provided to inmates and detainees. During his visit, he personally inspected key services, including food, sports, medical care, gymnasium, bakery, furniture workshop, and other vocational units.

Minister Bhullar spoke directly with the prisoners, listened to their concerns, and assured them that immediate action would be taken to address their issues. He emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to creating a rehabilitative environment in the state’s jails, aiming to transform them into centers where inmates can acquire skills and reintegrate as responsible citizens after release.
To further improve rehabilitation, the Minister announced several initiatives to strengthen infrastructure and opportunities within the jails. He also revealed plans to allocate additional funds to key units like bakeries and furniture workshops.
These vocational units are designed to provide inmates with valuable skills, instill purpose, and focus on productive activities. By expanding such programs, the government aims to ensure that inmates can earn a livelihood and support themselves after their release. The visit was conducted in the presence of Jail Superintendent Kulwant Singh Sidhu and other officials.
