National Times Bureau :- In a significant move to intensify its crackdown on organized crime, the Punjab government has decided to establish a dedicated State Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) police station in Rajpura. The Home Department has issued an official notification in this regard, paving the way for a centralized mechanism to handle cases related to gangster activities across the state.
With the establishment of this new police station, all legal proceedings initiated by the AGTF — including the registration of FIRs and subsequent investigations — will now be conducted directly from Rajpura. The move is aimed at streamlining operations and enhancing the functional autonomy of the task force.
Previously, whenever the AGTF carried out operations in different districts, it was required to register cases at the local police stations concerned. Further legal action was also processed by the respective district police authorities. This arrangement was often seen as a procedural hurdle that affected the operational efficiency and specialized functioning of the task force.
By creating a state-level police station exclusively for the AGTF, the government intends to remove these administrative constraints. The centralized system is expected to ensure faster legal processing, better coordination, and more effective action against criminal networks operating across Punjab.
Officials believe that this structural reform will strengthen the ongoing campaign against gangsters and contribute to improving the overall law and order situation in the state.
