Punjab Government to Meet Kisan Unions Tomorrow To Discuss Farmers’ Issues

Chandigarh, March 20, 2025 – The Punjab Government has called a crucial meeting with representatives from major Kisan unions to address ongoing farmers’ issues. The meeting will include leaders from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) Punjab and the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan Group).

Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian will chair the meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, March 21, at 4 PM at Punjab Bhawan. The government is expected to discuss key demands raised by the unions, including issues related to crop prices, loan waivers, and compensation for crop damage.

The meeting follows growing pressure from farmers who have been protesting over unfulfilled promises and delayed payments. Farmer leaders have signaled that they expect concrete action from the government to resolve their grievances.

Punjab officials have indicated that the government is committed to finding a balanced solution that addresses the concerns of the farming community while maintaining financial stability. Security arrangements have been tightened around Punjab Bhawan ahead of the meeting.
