Punjab Government Reinstates Former Chief Vigilance SPS Parmar After Suspension in License Scam

National Times Bureau :- The Punjab Government has reinstated former Chief Vigilance Officer SPS Parmar, who was earlier suspended in connection with the alleged license scam. Parmar was suspended on April 25, 2025, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Swaranjit Singh and Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Harpreet Singh of the Vigilance Bureau.

Short Tenure as Vigilance Chief

Parmar had a brief tenure as the Chief of the Vigilance Bureau. He was appointed on March 26, 2025, replacing Nageshwar Rao IPS. This marked the first time that an officer holding the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), while also serving as the Director of the Vigilance Bureau, was suspended in Punjab.

Suspension Revoked Amid Controversy

The reinstatement decision comes amid ongoing scrutiny over the alleged irregularities in the licensing process. The government has not yet clarified the findings of the inquiry that led to the reversal of the suspension order, but officials indicate that further investigations will continue to determine individual accountability in the case.
