Punjab Government Extends NoC-Free Plot Registration Deadline by Six Months

Punjab Government Makes Punjabi Compulsory in All Schools Across the State

Chandigarh (National Times): The Punjab Housing and Urban Development Department has extended the deadline for registering plots without a No Objection Certificate (NoC) until August 31, 2025. The move, taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aims to ease property registration procedures and accommodate the growing demand from the public.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardip Singh Mundian stated that the extension comes after numerous requests from residents. Initially, the NoC exemption was available from December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025. Now, citizens will be able to register their plots from March 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025, without requiring an NoC.

This policy stems from the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024, which removed the NoC requirement for registering property. Under the amended law, individuals who executed a power of attorney or an agreement to sell on stamp paper before July 31, 2024, for plots up to 500 square yards in unauthorized colonies, can register their property without obtaining an NoC.

The amendment is expected to streamline land registration while also tightening control over unauthorized colonies. Minister Mundian highlighted that the move provides much-needed relief to small plot owners and addresses the challenges faced by residents in property transactions. The Punjab Government remains committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and hassle-free property registration process while taking steps to regulate unplanned urban development.
