Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav Vows Tougher Action Against Gangsters, Drug Networks

Punjab DGP Establishes Four-Member Committee to Investigate Illegal Migration

Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Police will intensify operations against gangsters, organised crime and drug networks as part of efforts to maintain law and order and make the state drug-free, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Reaffirming the police force’s commitment to peace and communal harmony, Yadav warned that individuals involved in anti-national activities and organised crime would not be allowed to undermine the state’s security. He said the police would pursue wanted gangsters regardless of whether they were hiding elsewhere in India or overseas.

The DGP said Punjab Police would strengthen its action against criminal groups and their networks, with a focus on bringing those involved in illegal activities to justice.

“There is no place for gangsters and anti-social elements in Punjab,” Yadav said, reiterating that the force would continue working to protect residents and preserve peace across the state.

His remarks come as the Punjab government steps up its campaign against drug abuse and trafficking under the Yudh Nashian Virudh initiative.

According to Yadav, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently chaired a high-level review meeting and directed officials to intensify the campaign further. The initiative involves coordination between Punjab Police, various government departments and members of the public to tackle the drug problem.

The DGP stressed that cooperation among government agencies, law enforcement personnel and citizens would be essential to achieving the campaign’s objectives. He said the collective effort would continue until the initiative reached its intended conclusion.

Punjab Police has reiterated that tackling organised crime and dismantling drug supply networks remain key priorities. The force is also committed to improving public safety and ensuring that criminal elements do not threaten peace and stability in the state.

Yadav’s statement signals a continued push by the state police to pursue gangsters, disrupt their operations and strengthen enforcement against drug-related activities as the government advances its broader objective of making Punjab safer and drug-free.
