Punjab Crosses 55,000 Jobs Milestone Under ‘Mission Rozgar’, CM Mann Hands Over Appointment Letters

Chandigarh, August 20 – The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Wednesday marked a major achievement under its flagship Mission Rozgar programme by providing more than 55,000 government jobs to youth during the first three years of its tenure.

Addressing a state-level function in Chandigarh, where 271 newly appointed recruits received their appointment letters, CM Mann said the initiative was part of his government’s resolve to empower Punjab’s youth and build a transparent, merit-based system.

“Unlike previous governments that distributed a handful of jobs just before elections, we ensured from the very first day that deserving youth get their due. These 55,000 jobs are not a favour; they are the right of our talented youngsters,” Mann asserted.

He emphasized that all appointments were made strictly on merit through open competition, noting that recruitment processes were transparent and free from political interference. “This is a matter of pride, not just for the government but for Punjab as a whole,” he added.

The Chief Minister urged the newly recruited youth to serve people with dedication, calling them partners in the state’s social and economic development. “Use your pen for the welfare of the needy and underprivileged, and ensure that governance translates into public welfare,” he told them.

Highlighting the transformation in Punjab’s education sector, Mann took aim at previous governments, accusing them of neglecting schools while sending their own children to elite convents outside the state. He said, “Government schools were reduced to mid-day meal centres in earlier times, but today we are upgrading them into Schools of Eminence. Punjab has even secured the top position in the National Achievement Survey, surpassing Kerala.”

Mann also shared that 848 students from Punjab government schools cleared NEET this year, while 265 qualified JEE Mains and 45 cracked JEE Advanced. He argued that education, not freebies, was the real tool to uplift society and eradicate poverty.

Reflecting on his political journey, CM Mann said he entered politics only because of the “merciless plundering” of Punjab by earlier regimes. “The people ousted corrupt leaders and gave us a chance. Today, our sole focus is to protect Punjab’s interests and ensure overall growth,” he said.

He reiterated that the government is working based on direct feedback from citizens, unlike past leaders who, he claimed, avoided public interaction. “We are building a Punjab of opportunities and prosperity, where the youth will shape the state’s destiny,” Mann declared.

The Chief Minister also noted progress in other sectors such as health, electricity, and infrastructure, saying Punjab is witnessing “a new era of unprecedented development.”

Cabinet ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Dr. Ravjot Singh, along with senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh and Education Secretary Anindita Mitra, were present on the occasion.
