Punjab Cricket Association Unveils ‘Wall of Fame’ Honouring State’s Cricketing Icons

Gurpreet Singh :- In a significant initiative to celebrate Punjab’s rich cricketing legacy, BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Honorary Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer jointly inaugurated a dedicated “Wall of Fame” at the New Chandigarh Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

The newly established tribute showcases photographs of 33 distinguished cricketers who have brought laurels to Punjab and the country through their achievements on the national and international stage. The display also features memorable group photographs capturing India’s triumphs in One-Day International and T20 World Cups, highlighting some of the most iconic moments in Indian cricket history.

Among the celebrated personalities featured on the wall are former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, current international star Shubman Gill and Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur. The installation also pays tribute to Punjab’s domestic cricket achievements, including the state team’s Ranji Trophy-winning campaign of the 1992-93 season and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy-winning squad of 2022-23.

Special recognition has also been given to women cricketers from Punjab whose performances have contributed significantly to the growth of the sport and enhanced the state’s reputation in cricketing circles.

Speaking on the occasion, Meet Hayer said the initiative is aimed at preserving Punjab’s sporting heritage and inspiring future generations of cricketers. He noted that the Wall of Fame serves as a lasting reminder of the outstanding contributions made by Punjab’s players to Indian cricket.

BCCI President Mithun Manhas lauded the initiative, describing it as a proud moment for the cricketing fraternity and an important step towards honouring the achievements of legendary players. PCA Joint Secretary Sidhant Sharma was also present during the inauguration ceremony.
