Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to extend a formal invitation for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Punjab government has also reached out to the Chief Ministers of all states to participate, aiming to make the commemoration a nationwide observance.
Earlier this week, CM Mann, accompanied by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, attended a Kirtan Darbar organised by the Punjab government as part of the series of events marking the Guru’s martyrdom. The Chief Minister highlighted that celebrations are being planned not only in Punjab but also in other states where significant events related to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life took place.
The programme began at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and includes a major Kirtan Darbar at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib. According to CM Mann, from November 1 to 18, light-and-sound shows will be held across all districts of Punjab to showcase the teachings and philosophy of the ninth Sikh Guru.
Kirtan darbars will also be organised in towns and cities associated with Guru Sahib’s visits. On November 18, a Kirtan Darbar in Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) is planned, followed by a Nagar Kirtan on November 19, which will see participation from hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits.
Further, on November 20, three Nagar Kirtans will start from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur, all converging at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. The celebrations will culminate with large-scale religious and cultural programmes at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25.
CM Mann emphasised that the series of events aims to honour Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice and teachings, fostering unity and devotion among participants. He urged people from across India to take part in the commemorations, ensuring that the 350th martyrdom anniversary is observed with wide national participation and reverence.
