Punjab CM Mann Extends Best Wishes to Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy

Chandigarh, February 14, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday extended his best wishes to Indian Vice-Captain Shubman Gill and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The two Punjab-born cricketers met Mann at his official residence, where the Chief Minister lauded their contributions to Indian cricket and expressed pride in their achievements.

Mann highlighted Shubman Gill’s pivotal role in India’s runners-up finish at the ODI World Cup and praised Arshdeep Singh for his match-winning performances during India’s T20 World Cup triumph. He also commended Gill’s recent stellar form in the ongoing Test series against England, emphasizing how the young batsman has established himself as one of India’s premier talents in all formats of the game.

During their discussion, Mann reminisced about cricket’s golden years in the 1980s and 90s, sharing memories of legendary players and the sport’s evolution. He noted how Punjab has consistently produced top-tier cricketers who have excelled on the international stage, calling Gill and Arshdeep “sons of Punjab’s soil” who have brought immense pride to the state. The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting sports and nurturing young talent in Punjab.

The meeting, attended by Lok Sabha MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and other officials, concluded with Mann wishing both players success in the ICC Champions Trophy and encouraging them to continue making Punjab and India proud.
