Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Warns Striking Tehsildars: "You May Go, Government Will Hire More"

Chandigarh (National Times): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection at the Tehsil office in Kharar amid the ongoing strike by Tehsildars. Addressing the protest, CM Mann made it clear that the government would not bow to pressure, stating that those on strike were free to leave, and replacements would be hired.

His remarks come after he issued a stern warning to the agitating officers, asserting that while they could continue their strike, the public would ultimately decide when and where they would be allowed to rejoin duty.

The Chief Minister had already set a 5 PM deadline for the protesters to resume work, warning that failure to comply would result in dismissal from service.

The strike by Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars is in protest against the Vigilance Bureau’s actions. However, CM Mann reiterated the government’s firm stance against corruption and assured that public services would not be disrupted.

He emphasized that no amount of pressure tactics would deter the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
