National Times Bureau :- Fatehgarh Sahib witnessed a solemn and reverent moment on the second day of the Shaheedi Jor Mela as Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, accompanied by his family, paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. The annual religious congregation is being held in memory of the unparalleled martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji—Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh—and Mata Gujri Ji.
The Chief Minister bowed before the sacred shrine and remembered the supreme sacrifices made by the Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri Ji, describing Fatehgarh Sahib as a land of eternal inspiration for humanity. Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwant Mann said the Punjab government would take concrete steps to preserve and protect the historical and spiritual heritage associated with Fatehgarh Sahib so that future generations remain connected to its legacy.
During his visit, local MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai and District Planning Committee Chairman Ajay Libra were also present. The district unit of the Aam Aadmi Party honoured the Chief Minister for his presence at the holy site. Bhagwant Mann remarked that Fatehgarh Sahib does not require any official notification to be declared a holy city, as its sanctity is already etched in history due to the sacrifices associated with it.
Responding briefly to media queries, the Chief Minister chose not to comment on the issue related to the alleged theft of a sacred saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, stating that it was not appropriate to discuss such matters during a religious occasion. On the issue of ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, Mann questioned the intent behind the terminology, asserting that the sacrifices of the Sahibzadas were far greater than what the word “Bal” could convey. He also recalled that some political leaders had earlier opposed the move, with their statements still available in the public domain.
MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai stated that the Chief Minister’s visit along with his family reflected deep respect towards the martyrs and added that the entire district party leadership was present to pay homage on this sacred occasion.
