Punjab CM Bhagwant Maan Tours Flood-Hit Areas, Urges PM for ₹60,000 Crore Relief Fund

National Times Bureau :- In the wake of unprecedented flooding across Punjab due to continuous heavy rains, Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan is set to visit flood-affected areas in Hoshiarpur and Tanda today. During his visit, he will interact with residents at relief centers in Hoshiarpur and inspect the inundated zones in Tanda. The state government is focused on ensuring citizen safety and the swift provision of essential relief materials.

Earlier, CM Maan wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, detailing the severe flood situation in Punjab and describing it as one of the worst natural disasters the state has experienced in recent years. According to the Chief Minister, nearly a thousand villages and hundreds of thousands of residents have been affected, with the situation continuing to worsen in some regions.

Highlighting the extensive agricultural damage, CM Maan reported that approximately three lakh acres of farmland, predominantly wheat fields, are submerged under floodwaters, compounding earlier crop losses. He urged the Prime Minister to release the pending ₹60,000 crore fund to ensure immediate relief and sustained support for affected communities and the farming sector.
