Punjab CM Announces Rs 2 Crore Assistance for Family of ASI Harjit Singh

Chandigarh (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday paid tribute to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Harjit Singh, who lost his life while performing his duty in Amritsar district.

In a post on social media, Mann described the police officer’s sacrifice as an act of exceptional courage and dedication. He said Harjit Singh’s commitment to his duty would be remembered and continue to inspire others.

The Chief Minister said the Punjab Government would stand by the bereaved family during the difficult period. As part of the government’s support, the family will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 1 crore.

Mann also announced that HDFC Bank would provide an additional Rs 1 crore through an insurance benefit to the family, taking the total financial assistance announced following the officer’s death to Rs 2 crore.

The Chief Minister said the government remained committed to providing support to police personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty and to ensuring assistance for their families.

Paying tribute to the deceased officer, Mann said his sacrifice would serve as an example of courage, dedication and integrity in the discharge of public duty.
