Punjab CM Announces Major Price Cut on Verka Dairy Products from September 22

Chandigarh, September 19 – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced a significant reduction in the prices of Verka milk and dairy products to provide relief to the public.

The Chief Minister said Verka, a trusted brand of the state’s farmer cooperative Milkfed, has decided to lower the prices of its popular dairy items. The revised rates will take effect from the morning of September 22, 2025. He added that the price cuts are aligned with the Union Government’s GST 2.0 reforms, which reduced taxes on essential dairy products. Mann emphasized that such measures will further strengthen the state’s cooperative model and prove highly beneficial for the people of Punjab.

Detailing the new rates, Mann said consumers will save between ₹30 and ₹35 per litre/kg on Verka ghee. Table butter will be cheaper by ₹30 per kg, unsalted butter by ₹35 per kg, processed paneer by ₹20 per kg, and UHT milk (standard, toned, and double toned) by ₹2 per litre. Ice creams (gallon, brick, and tub) will see a price reduction of ₹10 per litre, while paneer will be available at ₹15 less per kg.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these cuts will increase affordability, boost demand, and enhance sales. He further said that the initiative will also contribute to higher tax collections, thereby strengthening Punjab’s financial position while ensuring quality standards and compliance.

Mann underlined that this revision provides much-needed relief to inflation-hit consumers while simultaneously increasing the demand for organized dairy products, ensuring welfare for both consumers and farmers.
