Punjab – Beas River Water Near Danger Mark, District Administration Issues Alert

National Times Bureau :- Continuous heavy rainfall in the upper hilly regions has pushed the Beas River’s water level close to the danger mark, prompting the district administration to issue an alert on Sunday. Authorities have urged residents of low-lying areas to immediately move to safer locations as the water level has reached 2.35 lakh cusecs, just half a foot below the critical point.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal stated that safeguarding human lives is the administration’s top priority. Teams from the Army and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively evacuating affected residents to safety.

The weather department has also issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Kapurthala district, warning that the situation may worsen if the downpour continues. Residents have been advised to stay alert and contact the district control rooms at 62800-49331, 01822-231990, or Sultanpur Lodhi flood control room at 01828-222169 for any assistance.
