Chandigarh (National Times): The Punjab Vidhan Sabha, during a special session held on Monday, paid heartfelt tributes to several notable personalities who recently passed away and strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people.
The House observed a solemn two-minute silence to honour the memory of former MP Master Bhagat Ram Ji, ex-minister Randhir Singh Cheema, and other prominent figures from different walks of life. The MLAs also remembered the civilians who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan expressed the collective grief of the House and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He termed the Pahalgam attack as a “cowardly act of terror” and called for strict action against those responsible. “Such violence must be condemned in the strongest terms. We expect the Centre to ensure justice is served,” the Speaker said.
The Assembly reiterated Punjab’s firm stand against terrorism and emphasized the need for unity in combating such threats. The session reflected both mourning and resilience, as legislators came together to honour the departed and demand justice for the victims of terror.
