Major Crackdown: Punjab ANTF Arrests Three Drug Traffickers, Seizes Heroin and Illegal Weapons in Amritsar

Amritsar (National Times): In a significant blow to narcotics and illegal arms trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Border Range, Amritsar, has arrested three individuals allegedly involved in a Nacro-Arms smuggling racket. The arrests took place near Shankar Dhaba on Attari Road, Amritsar, following a swift operation based on credible intelligence.

The accused have been identified as Maninderjit Singh, Peter, and Lovejit Singh alias Raja. Acting on a tip-off, the ANTF team intercepted the trio and recovered a large cache of drugs and firearms from their possession.

  • 521 grams of heroin

An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act at Police Station ANTF, SAS Nagar. Authorities confirmed that all suspects are in custody, and further investigations are underway.

The ANTF Punjab has launched an extensive probe into both the forward and backward linkages of the network to ensure the entire smuggling syndicate is dismantled.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, lauded the team’s efforts and reiterated the force’s commitment to a drug-free state. “Punjab Police remains firmly committed to eradicating drug syndicates, seizing illegal arms, and building a Nasha Mukt Punjab,” he said in an official statement.

This operation marks another strong step by Punjab Police in its ongoing war against narco-terrorism and illegal arms trade that continue to threaten the state’s peace and youth.
