Chandigarh (National Times), March 7: The Punjab government has declared two consecutive holidays, starting tomorrow. As per the official holiday list, March 8 (Saturday) will be a government holiday in observance of International Women’s Day. Additionally, March 9 (Sunday) is already a weekly holiday for both government and private institutions, providing an extended break across the state.
However, the March 8 holiday is reserved only for government employees, meaning all government offices will remain closed. Schools and colleges will operate as usual, with regular academic activities continuing without interruption.
In a move aimed at flexibility, the government has also allowed employees to opt for leave on March 8 if they choose to do so. This additional option enables government staff to plan their schedules conveniently.
The two-day break has been welcomed by employees, many of whom are planning to spend time with family or go on short trips. The announcement has added to the enthusiasm, especially among those looking forward to a brief yet refreshing break.
