Chandigarh, January 3 — The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) will hold a public hearing on January 8 to consider power tariff proposals for the financial year 2026–27. The hearing will take place at the HERC courtroom in Panchkula and will be conducted on the petitions filed by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).
The Commission has invited objections, suggestions, and comments from electricity consumers on these petitions until January 4. All related petitions have been uploaded on the official websites of UHBVN, DHBVN, and HERC for public access.
It may be noted that UHBVN and DHBVN had submitted their Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) petitions for FY 2026–27 before the Commission on November 28, 2025. These petitions also include the true-up for FY 2024–25, indicating that the audit process for the said year has been completed.
As per the true-up for FY 2024–25, the two power distribution companies have projected a total ARR of ₹48,394.77 crore. For FY 2026–27, the combined ARR demand placed by the two discoms stands at ₹51,156.71 crore.
Meanwhile, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) and Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) had also filed their ARR petitions before the Commission on November 26, 2025. Objections and suggestions on these petitions have been invited until January 4, while the public hearing for HVPN and HPGCL will be held on January 7.
During the hearings scheduled on January 7 and 8, all objections, suggestions, and comments submitted by power utilities and electricity consumers will be recorded in the presence of HERC Chairman Nand Lal Sharma and Commission Members Mukesh Garg and Shiv Kumar.
The Commission will take a decision on the ARR petitions under Sections 62 and 64 of the Electricity Act, 2003. As per Section 64(3) of the Act, HERC is mandated to issue its order within 120 days from the date of filing of the petitions.
