Chandigarh (National Times): The state-wide campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh” was launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav to eliminate the drug menace from the state, District SAS Nagar Police acting on the directions of Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS, DIG Ropar Range, has seized/frozen the property of two drug smugglers of Lalru area in the jurisdiction of police station Lalru Distt SAS Nagar, U/s 68F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 (NDPS) A), as proceeds of drug trafficking, said Sh. Harmandeep Hans, IPS, SSP, SAS Nagar.
Divulging the details, the SSP stated that the team of police station Lalru had recovered 4 quintals and 48 kilograms of poppy husk from accused Jaswant Pal Singh and Jasvir Singh, both residents of Sadarpura Mohalla, Lalru. “A case FIR No. 82 dated 16.04.2020 U/s 15/61 of the NDPS Act was registered against them at PS Lalru. Pursuing the financial angle of the case, SHO Lalru and his team, with persistent efforts, identified a house measuring 130 square yards in the name of accused Jasvir Singh and Smt Savita Pal w/o accused Jaswant Pal Singh, located in Lalru for a value of Rs 22 lakhs 44 thousand.
After thoroughly investigating the case and taking details from the revenue department, the said house was identified and the case with regard to seizing and freeze the property was sent to the Office of Competent Authority, New Delhi. After consistent efforts, a team of police station Lalru Distt SAS Nagar was successful in getting the said house seized/frozen u/s 68F of NDPS Act by The Competent Authority & Administrator of Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulator (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1976 (SAFEM (FOP)A), New Delhi..
The SSP further added that more properties of drug smugglers have been identified to be forfeited U/s 68F of the NDPS Act by the Distt SAS Nagar police.
