Mohali, March 11, 2025 – President Droupadi Murmu attended a civic reception hosted by the Government of Punjab in Mohali today. In her address, she highlighted Punjab’s rich legacy of sacrifice, service, and progress, calling it a land of martyrs and revolutionaries.
Tribute to Punjab’s Heritage
President Murmu praised Punjab’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle. She said that with the inspiration of the Gurus, the state has produced heroes who have shaped the nation’s history through courage and sacrifice.
She also acknowledged Punjab’s tradition of seva (selfless service), noting how the langar in Gurdwaras worldwide remains open to all without discrimination. “The world has learned the art of langar seva from the people of Punjab,” she said.
Military and Agricultural Contributions
The President lauded Punjab’s immense contribution to the armed forces, highlighting the bravery of its soldiers. She also praised Punjab’s role in the Green Revolution during the 1960s, which helped secure India’s food supply.
“The hardworking farmers of Punjab led the Green Revolution, ensuring food security for the country. I am confident that Punjab’s farmers and agricultural scientists will once again lead the way with eco-friendly farming practices,” she said.
Leadership in Multiple Fields
President Murmu also highlighted Punjab’s contributions to various fields, including education, science, industry, sports, politics, and social reform. She called on the people of Punjab to continue driving progress and inspiring the nation through their resilience and spirit.
