Calgary (National Times): Premier Danielle Smith has named the ministers and members who will serve on the government’s cabinet policy committees. Cabinet policy committees are essential to the work of government, reviewing policy decisions, setting long-range strategic priorities and contributing to proposals and reviews of legislation and regulation.
“I am proud of the dedication of Alberta’s cabinet ministers and MLAs who are stepping up to take on additional responsibilities and work on behalf of Albertans. Each committee member will bring invaluable insight and new perspectives reflecting the diversity of their own experiences. I look forward to working together on Alberta’s priorities – growing our economy and building strong, safe communities,” said Danielle Smith, Premier.
In addition to naming new cabinet policy committee members, Premier Smith named MLA for Red Deer-South Jason Stephan as Parliamentary Secretary for Constitutional Affairs on May 21. This role will be critically important as Alberta continues to assert its constitutional jurisdiction in key areas such as resource development, ensuring the province’s rights are protected and respected within the federation.
