Pre-Monsoon Showers Bring Relief to Himachal, Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Several Districts

Relentless Monsoon Rains Wreak Havoc in Himachal Pradesh; 129 Roads Blocked, 39 Dead

Shimla: A fresh spell of rain and cooler weather has swept across Himachal Pradesh, offering respite from summer temperatures as the state prepares for the arrival of the southwest monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued rainfall activity in many parts of the state over the next few days, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in selected districts.

According to weather officials, widespread precipitation is likely to persist until the end of the week, with Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla expected to experience periods of intense weather activity. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts, urging residents to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and heavy showers.

The recent weather system has already made its presence felt across the hill state. Rainfall was reported from several regions, while higher-altitude areas witnessed fresh snowfall, transforming mountain landscapes and further lowering temperatures.

Meteorological observations indicate a substantial decline in daytime temperatures across Himachal Pradesh. Several towns recorded temperatures below seasonal averages as cloud cover and rain reduced heat levels throughout the region. The cooler conditions have brought much-needed relief to residents and visitors alike.

Popular tourist destinations such as Shimla, Manali, Kufri and Narkanda have experienced pleasant weather, attracting tourists seeking an escape from the heat prevailing in the plains. Mist-covered mountains, cool winds and occasional showers have enhanced the scenic beauty of these locations.

Authorities have advised travellers and local residents to exercise caution, especially in mountainous areas prone to landslides and falling debris during heavy rainfall. Drivers have also been urged to stay alert on hill roads where visibility may be affected by fog and rain.

Experts believe the ongoing weather activity is a positive sign ahead of the monsoon season, which is expected to reach the state soon. The rainfall is likely to improve water availability, support agricultural activities and help replenish natural water sources.

Weather forecasts suggest that Himachal Pradesh will continue to witness intermittent showers, thunderstorms and cloudy skies over the coming days. With temperatures expected to remain moderate, the state is likely to enjoy a spell of comfortable weather as monsoon conditions gradually strengthen across the region.
