Prashant Kishor Refutes Dual Voter Allegations, Says He’s Registered Only in Bihar’s Kargahar

Araria (Bihar), October 28, 2025: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday rejected allegations of holding voter registrations in two states, asserting that he has been a registered voter in Bihar’s Kargahar Assembly constituency since 2019.

The clarification came after the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Kishor over alleged double enrolment in Bihar and West Bengal. Responding to the notice, Kishor questioned the ECI’s move, saying, “If the ECI claims my name appears in multiple places, why carry out a Special Intensive Revision and trouble everyone? I have nothing to do with their notice.”

Explaining his voter registration history, Kishor said, “I have been a voter from Kargahar since 2019. While living in Kolkata for two years, I had applied for a voter ID card there, but since 2021, my active voter ID has remained in Kargahar.”

The Returning Officer of Kargahar constituency, in the notice issued to Kishor, mentioned that according to a news report dated October 28, 2025, his name appears in the electoral rolls of both Bihar and West Bengal. The officer has sought Kishor’s clarification within three days.

According to the report, Kishor’s name is listed under West Bengal’s Bhabanipur constituency as well as Bihar’s 209-Kargahar Assembly seat.

Polling for the Bihar Assembly elections will take place in two phases, on November 6 and November 11. The ECI’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls has already drawn criticism from opposition parties over alleged irregularities.
