Posthumous Eye Donation: Parishad Members Honor the Family

Dera Bassi, February 21 – The Bharat Vikas Parishad, Dera Bassi, continues its mission to raise awareness about posthumous eye donation. So far, the branch has facilitated the donation of 157 individuals’ eyes, restoring sight for 314 visually impaired people.

Parishad Press Secretary and social worker Parmjit Rummy Saini shared that on February 17, social worker Narendra Kumar Tiwari (94) passed away. In honor of his commitment to society, his eyes and body were donated to a hospital through the Bharat Vikas Parishad.

Family Honored for Their Contribution

During his final prayer ceremony on Friday, Parishad members honored his daughter Sushma Tinjanani, son-in-law Ashwani Kumar Tinjanani, and relatives Sunita Bhargav, Suvarsha (wife of Rajeev Malhotra), and Sucheta Tiwari (wife of Neeraj Peters) with shawls and mementos.

Speakers at the event emphasized that eyes are one of the most vital organs and posthumous donation can bring light into another person’s life. Additionally, other donated organs can save many lives.

Parishad President Surinder Arora, Secretary Hatinder Mohan Sharma, Treasurer Vishal Sharma, and senior member Barkha Ram were also present at the event.
