Poonam Patnaik Donates $1,000 to Support Ottawa Food Bank

Ottawa ( Rajeev Sharma ): Mrs. Poonam Patnaik, wife of Mr. Dinesh Patnaik, High Commissioner of India to Canada, has generously donated CAD 1,000 to support the Ottawa Food Bank, reaffirming her strong commitment to community service and social responsibility.

The donation was raised through a Christmas Bazaar, an initiative that not only supported a vital local charity but also promoted Indian artisans and their craftsmanship, reflecting Mrs. Patnaik’s belief in empowering communities while celebrating culture and tradition.

Mrs. Patnaik expressed her appreciation for the impactful work of the Centre de ressources communautaires Rideau-Rockcliffe / Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre (CRC), which serves the communities of Overbrook, Forbes, Carson Grove, Manor Park, Lindenlea, Rockcliffe, and New Edinburgh. She acknowledged the vital role played by the centre and the local community in addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable families.

In January 2026, the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre conveyed its heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Patnaik, noting that her support has had a direct and positive impact on the lives of individuals and families who rely on its services. The centre stated that her generosity brought hope, warmth, and smiles to the community at a time when it was most needed, adding that her commitment to helping others is truly inspiring and that such work would not be possible without the support of donors like her. The message was shared by Gabrielle Davis, Communications and Fund Development Lead at the centre.

Mrs. Patnaik also shared her enthusiasm for future collaboration with the Rideau-Rockcliffe CRC, aiming to further strengthen community-focused initiatives and expand outreach efforts.

Her contribution highlights how cultural initiatives, philanthropy, and community partnerships can come together to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of those in need.
