Police Neutralise Extortion Threat in Nakodar, Two Accused Arrested After Encounter

National Times Bureau :- A major development has emerged in connection with the firing incident linked to an extortion attempt on a trader in Nakodar, as Jalandhar Rural Police carried out an encounter operation on Tuesday and arrested two accused involved in the case.

Acting under the supervision of SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk, a police team conducted the operation near a kutcha road close to Chak Maglani Road in Nakodar, following specific intelligence inputs. During the operation, the accused allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire, prompting a retaliatory action by the police.

In the brief encounter that followed, police successfully overpowered and apprehended both suspects, identified as Ankit and Harinder. A pistol along with live cartridges was recovered from their possession.

According to police officials, the two accused were roaming the area on a motorcycle with intentions to carry out another serious crime. Timely information enabled the police to set up a blockade, leading to the confrontation and their arrest.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that both accused are residents of Ludhiana. Police are now probing their criminal background and are examining whether they are part of a larger organised extortion or crime network operating in the region.

Further investigation is underway, and officials have stated that strict action will be taken against all individuals found connected to the case.
