Chandigarh, August 24 – In a push to make Panchkula cleaner, better organized, and smarter, K. Makarand Pandurang, CEO of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA), conducted a surprise inspection of the city along with officials from the Municipal Corporation, PMDA, MCP, HSVP, and traffic police.
During the inspection of major roads, intersections, and prominent parks, Pandurang directed officials to ensure regular road and lane cleaning, trim roadside bushes, identify traffic bottlenecks, and prioritize tree plantation in green belts and parks. He instructed MCP to designate proper garbage collection points to avoid inconvenience to both citizens and traffic.
Inspecting herbal parks, he ordered the construction of additional toilets and renovation of existing ones. He also warned contracted agencies to complete all civil works within stipulated deadlines while adhering to high-quality standards.
Responding to traffic police demands, Pandurang approved the installation of two sensor-based traffic lights on the Sector 20–21 dividing road.
Parks to be Developed to International Standards
The CEO visited Tau Devi Lal Park and inspected roads in Sectors 3/21, 20/21, 24/25, 25/26, 26/27, 27/28, and Sector 23. He also reviewed the under-construction Multi-Specialty Park being developed by HSVP and expressed displeasure over slow progress, directing the Chief Engineer to expedite the work.
He further ordered the repair of damaged “mastic asphalt” on the bridge near the Golf Club and asked for music and lighting systems in all parks to be made fully functional.
At the Cactus Garden, Pandurang instructed officials to upgrade facilities to international standards. He also inspected Town Park, directing the development of a boating water body for children and installation of a musical fountain. Additionally, he emphasized modernizing the Bonsai Garden and Meditation Garden with expert consultation.
The CEO instructed officials to conduct daily inspections of assigned parks and submit regular progress reports to ensure quality monitoring.
