New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 75th birthday on Wednesday, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observing the day by launching a nationwide initiative focused on public service and welfare.

The party announced the beginning of Sewa Pakhwada, a fortnight-long programme running till October 2. During this period, activities ranging from medical check-up camps, cleanliness drives, nutrition awareness sessions, and fairs showcasing local products will be organised across states governed by the BJP.

On his birthday, Modi visited Dhar in Madhya Pradesh where he flagged off a campaign centred on maternal and child health. He also unveiled a series of schemes targeting the welfare of tribal communities and addressed people gathered for the occasion.

Leaders across political and social spheres extended greetings. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the Prime Minister’s “visionary leadership and tireless service,” noting how he has boosted India’s global stature. BJP national president JP Nadda credited Modi for steering the country towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and inclusive development.

President Droupadi Murmu, in her message, said the Prime Minister had instilled a culture of aiming for high national goals and added that the international community too has shown confidence in his leadership.

Born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, Modi has been at the helm since 2014, leading the BJP to successive electoral triumphs and expanding its influence nationwide. The party has positioned Sewa Pakhwada as a reflection of his emphasis on service-driven politics.
