PM Narendra Modi Arrived in Calgary to Attend G7 Summit; Receives Warm Welcome from Indian Community

Calgary/ Kananaskis ( Rajeev Sharma) : Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, arrived in Calgary on Monday evening to participate in the G7 Summit. His arrival was met with an enthusiastic welcome from the Indian community, who gathered in large numbers at Calgary International Airport, as well as across Northeast Calgary and downtown, waving Indian flags and holding banners that read “Welcome Modi Jee.”
In a statement shortly after landing, PM Modi said, “Landed in Calgary, Canada, to take part in the G7 Summit. I will be meeting various leaders at the Summit and sharing my thoughts on important global issues. I will also be emphasising the priorities of the Global South.”
The G7 Summit is being attended by leaders from around the world, with key discussions expected on topics including climate change, global security, trade, and technological cooperation. By extending an invitation to Prime Minister Modi, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has signaled a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties between India and Canada.
This visit is seen as a positive step toward rebuilding bilateral relations, with hopes for enhanced business collaboration, cultural exchange, and mutual growth in sectors such as technology, education, and clean energy.

The Indian community in Calgary has expressed immense pride and excitement at PM Modi’s visit, seeing it as a historic moment for the diaspora and a new chapter in Canada–India relations.
