Dehradun , September 4, 2025— Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday said the state government is committed to women’s empowerment, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently worked for the welfare of women across India.
Speaking at the State Street Shakti Teelu Rauteli and Anganwadi Worker Award distribution ceremony for 2024-25, Dhami praised Modi’s “Nari Tu Narayani” mantra and highlighted initiatives like 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, and Lakhpati Didi Yojana. He also underlined the abolition of triple talaq as a landmark step in securing social justice for women.
Dhami emphasized that women of Uttarakhand have proven their capability, pointing to the success of “House of Himalayas” products made by women self-help groups that are competing with multinational companies. He recalled Modi’s statement from Kedarnath that the third decade of the 21st century would belong to Uttarakhand, with women’s groups playing a pivotal role in its growth.
The Chief Minister also outlined state-level schemes like the Mukhyamantri Laghu Udyog Protsahan Yojana and Entrepreneurship Development Program, which provide interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh to women self-help groups to ensure financial independence.
This year, 13 women were chosen for the prestigious Teelu Rauteli Award, while 33 women received the state-level Anganwadi Worker Award.
