PM Modi to Visit Varanasi on August 2, Launch Projects Worth Rs 2,200 Crore

Varanasi (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on August 2 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth approximately Rs 2,200 crore. The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering during his visit.

The projects span across crucial sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage. The initiatives aim to ensure holistic urban transformation, improved connectivity, cultural rejuvenation, and a better quality of life for residents.

Key Infrastructure Projects

As part of his commitment to boosting road connectivity, PM Modi will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi-Bhadohi road and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar road, along with the Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur. He will also lay the foundation stone for several road and bridge projects across rural and urban corridors, including Dalmandi, Lahartara-Kotwa, Gangapur, Babatpur, and Railway Overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard.

To enhance the region’s power infrastructure, the Prime Minister will launch various projects under the Smart Distribution Project and the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure worth over Rs 880 crore.

Boost to Tourism and Cultural Heritage

PM Modi will inaugurate the redevelopment of eight riverfront Kuccha Ghats, development works at Kalika Dham, beautification of Rangildas Kutiya pond and ghat, and the restoration of Durgakund. He will also lay the foundation stone for restoration at Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, development of Karkhiyaon (the birthplace of several freedom fighters), and redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral house in Lamahi.

Additionally, new City Facility Centres in Sarnath, Rishi Mandvi, and Ramnagar Zones will be developed, along with the creation of an Urban Miyawaki Forest at Kanchanpur and the beautification of Shaheed Udyan and 21 other parks.

Education, Healthcare, and Rural Development

In the education sector, PM Modi will inaugurate the upgradation of 53 school buildings and lay the foundation stone for a new district library and the rejuvenation of government high schools.

On the healthcare front, he will inaugurate advanced medical equipment, including robotic surgery and CT scan facilities at Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital. The foundation stone for a new Homoeopathic College and Hospital will also be laid.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 47 rural drinking water schemes will be inaugurated to ensure potable water access in rural areas.

Sports, Security, and Farmer Welfare

To promote sports, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a synthetic hockey turf at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium. For law enforcement personnel, a 300-capacity Multipurpose Hall at PAC Ramnagar will be inaugurated, and Quick Response Team (QRT) Barracks will be established.

In a significant step for farmers, PM Modi will release the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring more than Rs 20,500 crore directly to the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers.

Other Initiatives

PM Modi will also inaugurate the registration portal for events and competitions under the Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita and distribute over 7,400 assistive aids to Divyangjan and elderly beneficiaries.

With these projects, the Prime Minister aims to reinforce Varanasi’s position as a hub of cultural, economic, and infrastructural growth while continuing his focus on inclusive development.
