PM Modi Receives Namibia’s Highest Civilian Honour During Five-Nation Tour

Windhoek/New Delhi, July 9 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Wednesday awarded Namibia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis, as he arrived in the country on the final leg of his nine-day, five-nation diplomatic visit.

Instituted in 1995, just five years after Namibia’s independence, the award recognises individuals for exceptional service and leadership. It draws its name from the Welwitschia Mirabilis, a remarkable and ancient desert plant native to Namibia, symbolising resilience, endurance, and the indomitable spirit of the Namibian people.

This distinction marks the 27th international honour conferred upon Prime Minister Modi and is the fourth award he has received during his ongoing overseas tour, underscoring his growing global stature and India’s strengthening ties with nations across continents.
