Patna, November 2, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib on Sunday evening, offering prayers at one of Sikhism’s five holiest shrines. Wearing an orange turban, Modi was accompanied by Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav during the visit.
Elaborate security arrangements were in place for the Prime Minister’s arrival. Earlier in the day, Modi addressed election rallies in Arrah and Nawada in support of NDA candidates and later led a massive roadshow through Patna before heading to the gurdwara.
During his rally in Arrah, Modi referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, saying, “It was around this time in 1984, on November 1 and 2, when Sikhs were massacred in Delhi. Those responsible are being promoted by the same party that has never apologized for the tragedy.”
Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, commissioned in the 18th century by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, marks the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. Born in Patna in 1666, Guru Gobind Singh spent his early years in the city before moving to Anandpur Sahib.
