New Delhi — Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the rollout of India’s next-generation Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, calling it a “GST Savings Festival” designed to enhance consumer purchasing power and simplify business processes.
Speaking to the nation, PM Modi highlighted that these reforms are a major step under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and will benefit people across all sections of society. He described it as a “double advantage” combining income tax exemption on earnings up to Rs 12 lakh with the new GST structure, aimed at making essential goods more affordable and boosting household savings.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the reforms will streamline taxation, remove multiple overlapping levies, and ensure a more uniform system across states. “Citizens were previously burdened by a complex network of taxes and tolls. The GST now offers relief while fulfilling the vision of one nation-one tax,” he said.
PM Modi added that the changes are expected to ease business operations, accelerate India’s growth trajectory, and benefit families during the upcoming festive season. The “GST Savings Festival” is envisioned as a way for consumers to save more while enjoying easier access to essential goods and services.
