Canada Applauds Trump’s Middle East Peace Plan; PM Carney Commits to Humanitarian Support for Gaza

Calgary (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Mark Carney issued a statement on Labour Day, highlighting the contributions of Canadian workers and the enduring role of unions in shaping a fairer economy.

Carney noted that many of the protections enjoyed, including weekends, minimum wages, safer workplaces, and employee benefits, were the result of long-standing union struggles. He praised organized labour for championing fairness and dignity for all, not just for their members, but for society at large.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister emphasized that his government is committed to ensuring Canadians are equipped to succeed in an evolving global economy. “Workers are at the heart of building a stronger Canada,” he said, underlining plans to collaborate with unions to expand skills training, provide support systems, and create more stable, well-paying career opportunities.

Carney concluded by reaffirming that Labour Day is not only a time to celebrate achievements but also to strengthen partnerships between workers, unions, and the government in shaping Canada’s future prosperity.
