PM Mark Carney Condemns Violent Attack on Jewish Man in Montreal

Ottawa (Rajeev Sharma): Prime Minister Mark Carney has strongly denounced a violent assault on a Jewish father in Montreal, calling it “an appalling act” that has no place in Canada.

The incident, which took place late Saturday in front of the victim’s children, has sent shockwaves through the local community and beyond. Authorities say the man was attacked outside his home, though details on the assailant have yet to be released.

In a statement on Sunday, Carney stressed that every person in Canada has the fundamental right to live without fear for their safety. “My thoughts are with the victim and his family as they recover,” he said, adding that he fully supports law enforcement in their efforts to identify and apprehend the attacker.

The prime minister’s remarks come amid growing concerns over rising antisemitic incidents across the country. Police in Montreal have stepped up their investigation, assuring the public that they are committed to securing justice in the case.

Community leaders have also spoken out, urging solidarity and condemning violence rooted in hate or prejudice.
