Phillaur Outrage: Teen Allegedly Drugged, Assaulted, Video Shared; Authorities Move Swiftly

Jalandhar, August 20 – A disturbing incident in Phillaur, Jalandhar, has prompted immediate action from the Punjab State Women’s Commission and local police. A 19-year-old girl was allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted, and filmed by two youths, who reportedly circulated the video on social media.

Taking suo motu notice, Punjab Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill described the case as “extremely appalling” and urged strict legal action. She instructed officials to submit a detailed report by August 22 and warned that the commission would step in if justice was delayed.

Jalandhar Rural Police have registered FIR No. 76 against the accused under relevant sections for rape and related offenses. SSP Harvinder Virk stated that the accused have been identified as 18-year-old Prabhjeet Singh from Nakodar and 19-year-old Inderjot Singh from Kangniwal, Jamsher. A special investigation team has been formed, and lookout notices have been issued to apprehend the suspects, with raids ongoing.

The Women’s Commission criticized the initial delay in police action and emphasized that ensuring justice for the survivor remains the highest priority. The incident has left the victim and her family in severe distress.
