PHDCCI Organized National Conference on Strengthening Pharmaceutical Quality through GMP

Experts, policymakers, and industry leaders discuss strategies to enhance compliance, innovation, and global competitiveness under revamped RPTUAS scheme.

Chandigarh, October 22: The Health Committee and Chandigarh Chapter of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), in association with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, successfully organized a National Conference on “Enhancing Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)” along with a Special Session on the Revamped Pharmaceutical Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme (RPTUAS) at PHD House, Chandigarh.

The event brought together distinguished dignitaries, government officials, and industry leaders who shared valuable insights on strengthening the GMP culture and advancing pharmaceutical quality standards in India.
In his welcome address, Mr. Supreet Singh, Convener, Regional Pharmaceutical, Health & Wellness Committee, PHDCCI, highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of compliance and collaboration between the industry and regulatory bodies.
Mr. Amit Duggal, Assistant Commissioner Drugs, Punjab, discussed the state’s ongoing initiatives to enhance regulatory oversight and encourage manufacturers to adopt global GMP standards. Mr. Lalit Goel, State Drugs Controller, Haryana, emphasized the state’s support mechanisms for MSME pharma units and called for collaborative efforts to strengthen capacity through training and awareness programs.
Mr. Dharmendra Kumar Yadav, Under Secretary (Pharmaceutical Policy, UCPMP, PLI-BD, PLI-Pharma), Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, provided an overview of key national policy initiatives, including the PLI and RPTUAS schemes. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers to align with global quality benchmarks.
Dr. Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, President, IPA Punjab, in his address, underscored the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in fortifying GMP standards. Mr. Yashwant Shinde, Manager, SIDBI, delivered an in-depth presentation on the RPTUAS scheme, outlining the financial assistance framework, eligibility criteria, and methods to leverage various government schemes effectively.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Ms. Bharti Sood, Senior Regional Director, PHDCCI, emphasized the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring effective GMP implementation across the pharmaceutical sector.
The technical session, titled “Foundations and Strategies for Effective GMP Implementation,” was chaired by Dr. Saranjeet Singh, former Dean and Head of Department, NIPER Mohali.
A panel discussion followed, featuring prominent industry experts including Mr. Sunil Verma, Director, Harom India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Jagdeep Singh, President, Punjab Drug Manufacturers Association; Mr. Neeraj Giri, Managing Director, Voizmed Group of Companies; Dr. Pradeep Mattu, Managing Director, Cosmo Trends; and Ms. Vaishali Agarwal, Director, Scott-Edil, among others.
