Patiala Administration Issues Safety Advisory Amid Rising Ghaggar Water Levels

Patiala (Gurpreet Singh): The Patiala District Administration has issued an alert for villages situated along the Ghaggar River, after continuous rainfall in the catchment areas pushed water levels higher at Bhankharpur. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid venturing near the riverbanks.

According to an advisory released by SDM Rajpura, Avikesh Gupta, precautionary measures are especially advised for villagers in Untsar, Nanheri, Sanjarpur, Lachhru, Kamalpur, Rampur, Saunta, Maru and Chamaru.

Residents can contact the flood control room in Rajpura at 01762-224132 for assistance or updates.

In Dudhan Sadhan, SDM Kirpalveer Singh has cautioned people from Bhasmra and Jalahkhedi Raju Khedi to remain alert. Similarly, SDM Patiala, Harjot Kaur Mavi, has advised communities in Hadana, Pur, and Sirkappara to stay vigilant.

The administration has also provided emergency helpline numbers 0175-2350550 and 0175-2358550 for reporting unusual water levels or emergencies. Citizens have been urged not only to follow safety instructions but also to avoid spreading or believing in unverified information that may cause panic.

Officials stressed that these measures are precautionary, aiming to ensure the safety of residents as the monsoon continues to impact the region.
