Pakistani Intruder Shot Dead by BSF While Crossing Into Gujarat

Gujarat (National Times): The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a potential infiltration attempt late on May 23 by neutralising a Pakistani national trying to illegally enter Indian territory in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat.

According to BSF officials, the incident occurred during the night when a suspicious figure was observed moving toward the border fence after crossing over from Pakistan. Troops stationed at the site issued multiple verbal warnings and challenged the intruder, but the individual ignored all commands and continued to advance.

“Seeing no other option, our personnel opened fire. The intruder was neutralised immediately,” a BSF spokesperson said.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the identity of the intruder and the intent behind the breach. Initial assessments suggest that the individual acted alone, though all angles are being probed, including the possibility of smuggling or reconnaissance activity.

The area has seen increased surveillance activity in recent weeks, and the BSF remains on high alert to prevent any unauthorized cross-border movement. The security establishment reiterated that any attempt to compromise India’s territorial integrity would be dealt with firmly.

This incident adds to a series of recent attempts by foreign nationals to enter Indian territory through porous stretches of the western border.
