Islamabad, March 14, 2025 – Pakistani security forces thwarted a major terrorist attack on a checkpoint in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, killing 10 terrorists, including a suicide bomber, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists targeted a checkpost in the Jandola area of Tank district. A suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden vehicle near a Frontier Corps camp, but security personnel quickly repelled the assault.
Following an intense exchange of fire, Pakistani soldiers conducted an operation that resulted in the elimination of all 10 attackers. The security forces’ swift action prevented the militants from advancing toward the checkpoint, the ISPR said.
This attack came just a day after Pakistani forces successfully ended a hostage crisis involving the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan, where all 33 attackers were killed.
The country has seen a sharp rise in terrorist activity in recent months. Data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) shows that terror attacks surged by 42% in January 2025 compared to December. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains the hardest-hit province, followed by Balochistan.
