Islamabad (National Times): Amid escalating tensions following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead, mostly tourists, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar held a midnight press conference warning of potential military action by India within the next 24 to 36 hours.
Tarar stated that Pakistan possesses “credible intelligence” suggesting that India may launch an attack under the pretense of retaliating for the Pahalgam incident. “India is preparing for a military strike against Pakistan, based on unsubstantiated and false accusations,” he said during the urgent briefing.
He strongly criticized what he described as India’s unilateral posture in the region, calling its role as “judge, jury, and executioner” reckless. “Pakistan itself has suffered greatly due to terrorism and understands the agony of such acts. We have consistently condemned terrorism in all its forms globally,” Tarar added.
Pakistan, he said, had offered an independent investigation by neutral experts to uncover the truth behind the Pahalgam incident. However, he accused India of rejecting this peaceful route and choosing a “dangerous and confrontational” path instead, warning of dire consequences for the broader region.
Tarar concluded by saying any act of aggression would be met with a firm response. “Pakistan will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs. The international community must recognize that any escalation and its consequences will be India’s responsibility,” he warned.
