New Delhi (National Times): In a fresh provocation, Pakistani troops once again violated the ceasefire agreement by opening unprovoked fire at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of April 25–26. The incident comes just days after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left 26 civilians dead, heightening tensions between the two neighboring nations.
This marks the second consecutive night of such firing by Pakistan, with Indian military sources suggesting an attempt to test the preparedness of Indian troops.
According to an official statement from the Indian Army: “On the night of 25th–26th April 2025, unprovoked small arms firing was carried out by multiple Pakistan Army posts across the Line of Control in Kashmir. Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms. No casualties were reported.”
The LoC, which serves as the de facto border between India and Pakistan in the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, has witnessed a series of minor escalations in recent months. The latest breach, however, follows widespread outrage in India over the Pahalgam killings and renewed calls for stringent counterterror measures.
While there were no casualties reported, officials confirmed that the Indian side retaliated firmly and maintained vigilance across all affected posts.
Military experts believe these ceasefire violations may be intended as diversionary tactics by Pakistan, especially amid increasing pressure on the Indian government to respond decisively to cross-border terror infrastructure.
