Pakistan Alleges Indian Drone Infiltration Across Multiple Cities; Reports Civilian, Military Casualties

Islamabad (National Times): Tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate as Pakistan has accused India of launching a series of drone incursions across several of its cities. In a late-night press briefing, Pakistan’s military spokesperson, DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif, claimed that Indian drones entered Pakistani airspace at multiple points between May 7 and 8.

According to General Sharif, Pakistan’s air defence systems intercepted and downed at least 12 Indian drones. “Debris is being recovered from various regions including Lahore, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, Miano, Chhor, and Karachi,” he stated.

He added that one of the drones reached Lahore, injuring four Pakistani soldiers and damaging military infrastructure. In a separate incident in Miano, Sindh, one civilian was reportedly killed and another injured. Pakistan also claimed multiple casualties along the Line of Control, though no independent confirmation has been provided.

General Sharif alleged that five Indian aircraft and numerous drones had been neutralised in recent skirmishes. “India is recklessly escalating tensions. The environment is already volatile, and their actions are pushing the region toward instability,” he remarked. “Our forces remain alert and fully capable of defending our sovereignty.”

These accusations come just days after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a multi-pronged military strike targeting terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, following the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.

India has not issued an official statement in response to Pakistan’s latest claims at the time of this report.
