New Delhi, December 28, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said 2025 stood out as a year of proud milestones for India, with Operation Sindoor emerging as a defining symbol of the country’s uncompromising stance on national security.
Addressing the final episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat for the year, Modi said India’s impact was visible across sectors, from defence and science to sports and culture. He said Operation Sindoor reflected the collective spirit of the nation, with people across the country expressing love and devotion towards Maa Bharti in their own ways.
Operation Sindoor, the prime minister said, became a source of pride for every Indian and sent a clear message to the world that today’s India does not compromise when it comes to its security. He added that the same sense of national pride was witnessed during the celebrations marking 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram, noting the enthusiastic participation of citizens through the #VandeMataram150 campaign.
Modi described 2025 as a memorable year for Indian sports, highlighting the men’s cricket team’s triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy and the women’s cricket team’s historic first World Cup victory. He also praised India’s daughters for winning the Women’s Blind T20 World Cup and said the Tricolour flew high after a dominant Asia Cup T20 win and an impressive medal haul by para-athletes at the World Championships.
The prime minister said India made major strides in science and space during the year, with Shubhanshu Shukla becoming the first Indian to reach the International Space Station.
He noted that India’s growing global stature was driven largely by its youth, whose achievements in science, innovation and technology have drawn admiration worldwide.
Modi also pointed to progress in wildlife conservation, saying the cheetah population in India crossed 30 in 2025. Reflecting on cultural and spiritual milestones, he said faith, heritage and tradition came together during the year, from the globally admired Prayagraj Mahakumbh at the start of 2025 to the Dhwajarohan ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya towards the year’s end, events that, he said, filled the nation with pride.
