Operation Sindoor is Face of Changing India, Not Just a Military Mission: PM Modi

New Delhi, May 25, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has underscored that Operation Sindoor was not merely a military exercise but a bold reflection of the “new India” an assertive, self-assured nation that does not tolerate terrorism and answers provocation with decisive force.

In a powerful message shared across recent addresses, including his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast and speeches in Rajasthan, PM Modi called the 88-hour-long operation a “new form of justice” rather than vengeance. Launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, the operation showcased India’s upgraded military readiness, strategic vision, and geopolitical resolve.

“Pakistan has now realized that the old India is gone. The audacity they once displayed has been answered with precision missile and drone strikes on key terrorist infrastructure,” Modi said. He added that the operation sends a strong message to the global community and Pakistan alike that every terror act will be met with a proportionate, calculated response.

The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, executing a series of strikes against terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This included key facilities in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Bahawalpur long considered safe havens for terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The strikes also resulted in the dismantling of radar and communications infrastructure across 11 Pakistani airbases.

Following this, India announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, cutting water access to Pakistan, thereby signaling the operation’s diplomatic and economic dimensions as well.

PM Modi stressed that the operation wasn’t a one-off initiative. “It is a blueprint for the future the face of changing India,” he said during the NITI Aayog meeting. “India will never again tolerate terror. The days of restraint have been replaced by resolve.”

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also acknowledged the operation, terming it a strategic necessity and praising the unity shown across party lines. “This is not about governments; it’s about India,” he said.

Across the nation, the operation has spurred patriotic fervor. In Varanasi, citizens organized a massive Tiranga Yatra to honor the Armed Forces. Students, ex-servicemen, and civil society members joined the rally, celebrating India’s resolve.

With the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and targeted military strikes, Operation Sindoor marks a strategic and symbolic shift in India’s counterterrorism polic demonstrating that security, diplomacy, and national pride now move in unison.
