Chandigarh, August 4 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in a major initiative towards housing for all, handed over allotment letters to thousands of underprivileged families at a state-level function in Panchkula under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0 and interim ownership certificates under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that no poor family in Haryana would remain homeless and reaffirmed the commitment of the double-engine government to provide a secure roof over every needy household’s head.
He informed the gathering that 1,144 families from Jagadhri Sector-23 were given interim ownership certificates under the urban housing scheme, while 3,884 families from 58 villages received plot allotment letters under the rural scheme. Emphasizing the emotional and social value of a home, the Chief Minister said that a house is not just a physical structure but a dream, a foundation of security, and a symbol of dignity. The certificate, he added, is not merely a document but the beginning of a new and hopeful life.
CM Saini reiterated that the implementation of these housing schemes is a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.” He asserted that the selection of beneficiaries is carried out in a completely transparent and impartial manner. There is no scope for favoritism, recommendations, or bias. Everything is processed digitally, and all decisions are taken based on facts and need, ensuring the elimination of corruption.
He further announced that the government is not just giving plots or certificates but is also committed to supporting the actual construction of homes. Financial aid is being extended in both rural and urban housing schemes. In the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana, 15,256 families in 14 cities have already been allotted 30-square-yard plots. Alongside this, a subsidy of ₹2.5 lakh is being provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to enable construction of the houses.
In rural areas, under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana Phase-2, plot allotments have begun for 1.58 lakh applicants across 561 villages. For house construction, each beneficiary is receiving ₹1.38 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), ₹12,000 under the Swachh Bharat Mission for toilet construction, and employment for 90 days under the MGNREGA scheme.
CM Saini noted that since the launch of the housing schemes, 69,150 houses have been constructed in rural areas under PMAY-Gramin with an expenditure of ₹579 crore. In urban areas, 77,900 houses have been constructed under PMAY-Urban, with support worth ₹1,650 crore.
He said that this effort is not just about providing housing but also about uplifting the standard of living through improvements in education, healthcare, employment, and basic infrastructure. The Chief Minister assured that the government will continue working relentlessly until every poor family in Haryana has a home of its own.
Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Krishna Lal Panwar, who was also present at the event, praised the Chief Minister’s leadership. He said that Haryana is becoming a self-reliant state through progressive welfare schemes focused on the poor, youth, and women. He recalled that before 2014, owning a home was only a distant dream for many poor families. But through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and commitment, more than four crore homes have been built across the country. Haryana, he said, is actively contributing to this national movement with unmatched energy and commitment.
